Five years ago, he relocated to Bucharest, and this month, a search of his home led to his arrest.

The Tate brothers’ attorneys said that prosecutors had not provided any new evidence in their motion to extend.

Influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan are to stay in custody until 27 February after a Romanian court extended their detention by police.

The pair are being investigated over allegations of sexual assault and exploitation and a judge has ruled.

The reasons for this extension will be given in a written statement later.

Authorities claim the brothers have been part of an organised crime group that exploited women by forcing them to create pornographic content. But no charges have been brought against the brothers yet.

The former kickboxer has millions of online followers – despite being banned from sites including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube for misogynistic comments.

He moved to Bucharest five years ago and was arrested last month after his house was raided.

Lawyers for the Tate brothers argued prosecutors had not presented any new evidence in their application to extend.
