She claimed rhabdomyolysis, a disorder where muscle tissue breaks down and releases a harmful protein into the blood, was the cause of his diagnosis.

In addition to putting the head football coach on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, the school, which is just 25 miles (40 km) from Dallas, announced that it has hired a neutral third party to look into the event.

“Rockwall ISD places a high focus on student safety, and we will keep taking immediate and necessary actions in our students’ best interests as we address this matter,” Mr. Bradford continued.

After the session, another mother, Maria Avila, told CBS that her kid was “extremely stiff” and “could not move his arms.”
